Quick Summary

This desk is Varidesk's first attempt at a free standing desk. All of their previous models required an existing desk or table that their unit would rest on. There are a few issues with this desk, the first of which is that for the last few months it's been unavailable on Amazon or on Varidesk's website. You can check here to see if it's available.

I had issues with the shipping, it was difficult to lower the desk, and I have a preference for electric desks (this one you have to push and pull up via paddles under the desktop).

The Pro Desk 60 is a solid desk from a great standing desk company. My main concern with this desk after trying it out is that it was hard to push down. I'm almost 200 lbs, and I've lifted weights for years, so I'm not weak, but it took a lot of effort for me to push the desk down into the lowest position.

To be fair, I didn't put a lof of stuff on the desk, which would have helped. And over time I imagine the desk would be "broken in" and be easier to use.

The second issue I had was with the pickup. This wasn't a huge deal, but when the truck arrived the driver told me that it wasn't his job to help me get the desk in my house, it was only his job to park the truck outside. I pretended not to be pissed, and started to grab the desk myself. It's 170 lbs, and hard to grab, so that woudn't have gone well. The driver then decided to help me, but we carried it in by hand. For a few days after that my back was sore.

The third issue I had was with the return, and it was only with the Pro Desk 60, not with any other desk. Varidesk used FedEx to deliver the smaller desks, and a separate company to deliver and pick up this desk.

The first time it was supposed to be picked up, no one showed. I called to schedule another pickup, and they gave me an 8 hour window wher I had to be home waiting for them (I hate that!). The truck never showed. The next morning I called and they said there was a miscommunication and it was going to be delivered that day. I wasn't at home, I hurried home and they showed up.

Varidesk needs to fix these issues the shipping company.

If you're looking for a standing desk without a motor, this could be a good option. Many desks raise and lower via an electric motor, and they often have preset heights so you can just push a button and your desk will go to a preselected height. If you're in a quiet office or an area where you don't want to make much noise, this desk may work for you. And it's not that this desk makes no noise, it will click when you release the paddles after you find the height you want the desk.

3. Quick delivery - around 7 days (some standing desk can take weeks).
4. Minimal assembly: just screw the legs in and the desk is ready to be flipped over and put into place. It will require 2 people.
5. Friendly customer support.
6. All of their products are solid, well made, and look good.

If you start using your standing desk and find yourself getting tired, there are a couple things you can do. One is to sit down (you're supposed to be switching positions every 20 minutes anyways), and the other is to get a standing desk mat. See my favorite anti-fatigue mat below, the Topo.

I had an issue with the delivery - that's a possible one time issue.

I had an issue with the return - you may not be returning the desk if you buy it.

The desk doesn't lower easily, but if you put a monitor (or two or three) and other items on the desk, it might lower much easier.

If you like the way it looks, and you're looking for a simple, quiet, no frills desk that's solid, from a solid company, this may be a good choice for you. However, for the price, there are electric adjusting desks that do more than the Pro Desk 60, such as the iMovr Thermodesk Uptown (which is cheaper) the Jarvis, or the UpWrite.
